Happy New Year! Over the holidays, we took some time to reflect on our favourite Summer Camp moments on 2017. After much deliberation, we’ve narrowed it down to our Top 10…
10. Zumba Wednesdays
If you’ve never tried Zumba with a room full of kids, we highly recommend it—you’ll get a workout and then some. Our counsellors tried their best to match the campers’ explosive energy every time “Despacito” came on. Tried and failed…
9. Counsellor Skits
We didn’t just have the best campers this summer—we had the best counsellors too! Our staff took it upon themselves to put on a silly skit every Friday. It was a great way to bond and let loose at the end of the week!
8. Working With The Bell Fund
We are so grateful to Judy for coming in and sharing The Bell Fund’s great work. After her presentation, our campers made cards for people undergoing cancer treatment. We can’t wait to work with the Bell Fund again next year!
7. Startup Fest
The entrepreneurs at Startup Fest 2017 faced their toughest critics yet: our Leadership campers. Laurus Summer Camp’s future entrepreneurs scoped out the competition and got some sweet merch in the process.
6. Water Sports
Ah, water sports. Is there any better way to cool off and terrorize your counsellors on a summer afternoon? Our campers think not!
5. Meeting Canadian Astronaut Marc Garneau
We were honoured to host Marc Garneau, Canada’s first astronaut in space. He gave our eager campers the lowdown on what it takes to be an astronaut, and what it’s like to live beyond our planet. We hope he inspired some future astronauts!
5. STA Performances
Every Friday our drama, dance and music STA groups took to the stage and performed for the whole camp—and some lucky parents.

3. Carnival
Big shoutout to our Leadership campers for organizing another fantastic Carnival Day! This year we had games, prizes, a bouncy slide, and a very special visit from Princess Belle. It’s gonna be a hard one to top next summer!
2. Pranking The Counsellors
Our campers started a new Laurus tradition this summer: pranking their counsellors! Counsellors were pied, dunked, and yes, even painted! (Maybe we will do a Top 10 of Counsellor pranks, there were some really awesome ones)
